Stebbens Quick was born Aug. 26, 1833, and died Thursday, July 30, l896, aged 62 years, 11 months and 4 days. He was born and raised in Montgomery county, and for a third of a century he resided on the farm where he lived at the time of his death, and during that time he has constantly grown in the esteem of those with whom he came in contact. Possessed of a genial disposition, a manly heart and an abiding love for his fellowmen, richly endowed by nature in intellectual power, ever moved in all acts by generous impulses, and actuated by noble and charitable motives and purposes his death has cast a gloom over the hearts of his friends and prostrated his family with grief. He was married to Cynthia A. Utterback, Nov. 30, 1854. To this union five children were born of which three have gone on before him and two daughters, Mrs. A. J. Monroe, and Mrs. Geo. W. Petro, still survive him. He was a devoted Christian and a loving husband. He leaves a devoted wife and two daughters to mourn the loss. The funeral was conducted by J. T. Phillips. The funeral procession was perhaps the largest ever seen in this township. The remains were laid to rest in the Liberty cemetery.
